SUMMARY:Seasons of Healing: A South Asian Perspective on Loss
DESCRIPTION:Join us on December 12th from 7–9 PM for an evening dedicated to understanding and navigating grief. We will screen two impactful films followed by a meaningful community conversation in Punjabi and English. \nThe holiday season can be especially difficult for those grieving. This event offers a space to reflect\, connect\, and discuss ways to manage loss during this challenging time. \nLet’s come together as a community to break the silence around grief and support one another in healing. \nWe look forward to seeing you there! \n** Light refreshments will be served ** \n*** Your donation will support the continuation of Soch’s South Asian Grief Support Group for 2025 *** \n  \nBichhray Rooh \nA film by Soch Mental Health & Kahaani Kollective \nOur short Punjabi film explores how grief manifests differently within a family. A father\, daughter\, and son each struggle to navigate how to cope with their loss yet remain silent about their challenges. The film sheds light on the complexities of grief in South Asian families and emphasizes the importance of seeking support. It aims to remind the community that we don’t have to face grief alone—help is available. \nTime \nA film by Kiran Rai and Baljit Singh \nAfter losing her husband to dementia\, Surjit becomes consumed by her grief. Her days are spent trying to pass the time\, finding ways to cope with loss. She seeks solace reflecting on memories of her younger days. Although restricted by her anxiety\, she tries to search for peace within her loneliness. What does life look like when you have to start all over again at the age of 70? ‘Time’ explores life after loss.
