S.A.F.E – A Discussion on South Asian Queer & Trans Mental Health

September 30, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join SOCH Mental Health on September 30th 7:00 PM for a discussion on South Asian Queer and Trans mental health!

About this Event

SOCH Mental Health presents – S.A.F.E (South Asians for Equality). This will be a recurring forum for a discussion of South Asian Queer & Trans mental health and the surrounding issues within the South Asian LGBTQ+ community.

The goal is to make a positive change and to have a healthy community conversation surrounding stigma of mental health in the South Asian LGBTQ+ community. We also strive to offer support in a safe and a non judgmental environment and to facilitate an open dialogue to pull back the curtain on the stigma surrounding mental health.

SOCH is a mental health initiative started by two registered nurses, Jasmeet Chagger and Maneet Chahal from Brampton, tailored at providing the South Asian community with education, awareness, and resiliency for mental health. As a community initiative, SOCH’s aim is to first ‘start the mental health conversation’ to break the stigma in the South Asian community and second, to empower the community with the skills and knowledge to navigate the mental health system, support loved ones, and most importantly, take a preventative approach to caring for one’s overall well being.

Zoom meeting information will be mailed out to all participants before the event.
